Building Capacity to Improve Student Outcomes at Wiley College
Impact at a Glance
The Problem
Wiley University's chief business officer (CBO) is a champion of student outcomes and a strong advocate of using data-informed practices to guide priorities. The CBO saw the benefit of creating dashboards that could be shared with people across campus and help inform collaborative decisions to support enrollment activities and improve student outcomes. Wiley needed a cost-effective solution that would not result in a large, recurring licensing expense.
The Results
Results
- Wiley accelerated the development of dashboards to inform decisions by supplementing the capacity of its internal talent pool and contracting with an outside vendor to link the Power BI templates in the toolkit directly to Wiley's data sources.
- Working with the developer who built the Power BI templates available in the Financial Impact Analysis toolkit, Wiley was able to refine the dashboards, and create a mechanism to support regular data updates.
“We had data for days. That data had been cleaned up and validated. What we were missing was a way to visualize that data that could be shared with the hard-working people at Wiley who are on the front lines of serving our students.”
